I have been training at Gracie Venice for about 10 months now. During this time period I’ve talked to coach Troy and I can honestly say he cares so much about all of his students. In addition to that, he is very knowledgeable and understands how to run a gym properly. I 100% recommend training at Gracie Venice.
Gracie Venice and Troy are a blessing in the area. Top notch affiliation with an excellent instructor who has walked the walk. Black belt and Pro MMA fighter teaches from a perspective of “has done it”. He also jumps on the mat and trains with the members daily. Works for the beginner looking to get in shape and improve his physical fitness and the very experienced looking to stay on course training hard.
Also and most importantly. Family atmosphere , friendly and helpful group.
I have trained at other BJJ gyms but Venice Gracie is next level. It’s very structured, drilling focused, and gives you a great work out. Troy and all the other coaches are great and very helpful. Everyone there is welcoming and it’s a great place for people who are new to BJJ. Highly recommend.
If you are reading this review and decided whether or not to try this, the answer is yes. I had been interested for 20 years but was always afraid to walk into a gym like this. Every preconceived idea I had was wrong; every single person has been welcoming, patient and friendly. I have not seen one instance of ego, disrespect or condescending behavior, in fact it is the exact opposite with the highest amount of mutual respect and support. Almost every class has a new person trying it for the first time and everyone is encouraging. Make no mistake this can be a hard but rewarding workout, at 2 months in I am down 18 pounds with no other changes. I'm in love with the sport and the culture and I would strongly reccomend giving this a try 😎
Coach Troy is extremely knowledgeable and has done a great job at creating a family environment and making everyone feel welcomed. Can't forget about the fantastic rolls everyone gets each training session!
The best martial arts gym in Venice! Owner and the head coach Troy is very skilled and is also a professional mma fighter.
If you are looking to learn some self defense skills or even compete as a bjj/mma athlete - Gracie Venice is THE place. Kids classes are also available!
This place is top notch. Very fortunate to be able to learn from legit professor like Troy and train with so many amazing people! I’ve trained at some really good schools in the past few months but this place is unique. Definitely worth checking out!
